Patrick Obahiagbon Is A National Treasure by Ikponmwosa Kingsley Osamede

I was just a primary school kid when I first heard of such brilliance, such an epitome of knowledge and cultural paradigm. I was just preparing for my first school leaving certificate examinations when I first was allured by such magnificent charm of a man. English was a problem for me and my mother would repeatedly tell me about such a man - how he conquered and personalized a foreign language but yet entrenches his culture in ways never been captured by men alive. I was just an 8th year old kid when I realized how much of a national treasure Mr. Patrick is. It would take epistles the size of the encyclopedia Britannica to fully unravel the awing persona that Mr. Patrick embodies. He gives hope to non-traditional English speakers especially those who are avowed or aspire to be accepted in tertiary institutions as English is not just a mandatory subject but the official language of our dear country. Revisiting the very looks of the honorable reveals how proud he is of his culture. For every legislative day he spent in the green chambers, hardly was he ever found not adorned in the Benin cultural regalia. Such a cultural maestro he is. I have had conversations with peoples from the different part of the country and I have found not one, not even one that is not as proud of Igodomigodo as the Edo people themselves. Whenever conversations revolve around real performance as a government official, the performance of Hon. Patrick is never in doubt. More than 6 years since serving as a lawmaker, the people of Edo still sing the praise of Igodomigodo as the projects he constructed still stands till date and as the materials used were of superior quality, they are still optimally serving their purpose till this date. Hon. Patrick is compassionate and honorable in all his dealings. The scores of students he single handedly catered for while in the House of Representatives still sing his praise till this date. He genuinely catered for them throughout their stay in school. This was never for political purposes as the same students still enjoyed scholarships from him even after he had left the green chambers. A national treasure is one that is celebrated in all spheres: exceptional performance in his primary assignment, acceptability by all and sundry, and a pride of his constituents and the nation at large. In all of these, Mr. Patrick has not only aced but redefined the type of performance to be expected from all law makers in the National Assembly. The accessibility of Igodomigodo is word of the town. He’s loved by the market women, artisans, students, the elderly, youths and the civil servants. I have heard testimonies from countless individuals on the loving personality of Mr. Patrick. I sought to confirm and he didn’t disappoint. On a courtesy visit one particular day, though he didnt know me prior to the visit, he genuinely asked about my person and once he knew I was a medical student at University of Benin, we spent more time talking mostly about my educational career and not politics. It was right then and there I realized how greatly Igodomigodo prioritizes the education of youths. Having served as Chief of Staff to the Comrade Governor, Adams Oshiomhole - the man that set Edo State on the path of greatness and infrastructural developments, it must therefore be reckoned that Hon. Patrick Obahiagbon possesses not just a camaraderie personality but an acumen for providing the people with the needed dividends of democracy, for as a chief of staff, he knows so much about the inner workings of such infrastructural deals. He is no new comer at all when it comes to providing the people with the dividends of democracy. His vocal nature shall be the hope of all the good people of Edo South. Hon. Patrick Obahiagbon is not just the All Progressive Congresss Edo South Senatorial district candidate; hes our pride, the pride of all Edo people. Let us all come out to vote for a vocal voice. Lets all vote Patrick Obahiagbon for Senate. Ikponmwosa Kingsley Osamede is an award winning writer from Benin City
